Ultra Music Fest – How to enjoy it like as an adult.

This past weekend Miami experienced another great year with Ultra Music Festival. For those of you who don’t know what UMF is it’s one of the largest electronica/dance music festivals with DJ’s such as Avicii, David Guetta, Tiesto, Carl Cox, and groups such as M83, Justice and Afrojack headlining this three day event. Ticket’s usually run from $100 per day up to $150 per day depending on when you purchase them.

Now, for those of us in from Miami, UMF brings back memories of us  being young and careless and being with hundreds of other teens being young and careless. See pics below:

But for those of us who have gotten older and still enjoy the live music experience that Ultra brings minus the hundreds of glowstick wearing, lollipop eating, tweaking, smelly, and neon dressed teens. No offensive to them, we all had our moment. We at AnotherTraveler have found a way to enjoy the festival without having to sacrifice your comfort zone or the fact that we’re too old for UMF.

1. Attend pool parties. Often times the teens can only afford tickets to UMF and nothing else. Hotels such as the Shelbourne, Fountainbleau, Surfcomber, Delano and the National offer some great UMF pool parties some with DJ’s such as David Guetta who are already performing at Ultra. And, not to mention often times there will be a bunch of parties going on around town leading up to UMF that are adults only and totally worth the while.

2. Pick a day. Let’s face it, most of us can’t party like we use to. Cheers to those who can. (email me your secret) So pick a day just one day out of Ultra that has all the DJ’s/acts you want to see and purchase a VIP ticket for it. Trust me it’s worth your while!!

3. Host your own UMF party. Did you know that you can watch a live stream of UMF on youtube.com? Well, you can! Call some friends up, go to a pool party, or spend the day at the beach, head over to whoever has the biggest TV plus surround sound, make some drinks, connect youtube.com to the TV and ENJOY! You’ll have you’re own private VIP party.

Those are my tips for enjoying UMF as an adult, I have so far. Just because we’re older doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy some of the UMF in our life when we want to. And F’it if you still like going to UMF and doing your “thing” , go for it. No judging here. If Madonna can still do it at 60 something years of age, so can we!
