Ubud is considered as the heart of Bali’s culture. Places like Bebek Tepi Sawah, the rice fields and being able to practice yoga and meditate attract travelers from all over the world! Located besides the cool mountains, which are just one hour drive of resorts in southern Bali. When you choose to visit Ubud, you will see beautiful sceneries that makes it an amazing place to visit while traveling around in Bali. Ubud is surrounded by villages such as Campuhan, Penestanan, Batuan and Peliatan specialize in woodcarving and crafts sold on the island. Here is few highlights of Ubud in Bali from our many times visiting.
Rice fields in Ubud, Bali
Since Ubud is in the center of the island of Bali, you’ll find the iconic landscapes of rice fields everywhere. One of our favorites was the Tegalalang Rice Fields in Ubud. These rice fields are known all over the world and are a huge attraction that many travelers want to see. Bali has many working rice fields that you can get especially when you need a perfect one. From these recognizable rice fields in Tegalalang, you will have a range of landscape that you can view during your holiday in the city. This Bali rice field is a perfect place where you can visit during your tour. The best way to experience the Tegalalang Rice Fields, in my opinion is to rent you own motorbike and ride up yourself. It’s only about 20 mins ride from the main area of Ubud.
During your visit in Ubud, you can also visit several artistic shops selling ceramics, clothing, paintings, accessories and wood carved furniture. You will definitely have a great time when visiting Ubud. Many traveler who have visited Ubud in Bali have never left after experiencing it in person.
Anand Ashram Ubud
Anand Ashram Ubud is located in northern part of Ubud, Bali. It’s a traditional Ashram so they host daily activities like chanting, meditation and community events. For those who want to learn about the culture in Ubud, visiting here can give you a spiritual experience while getting to know the local community in Ubud. I’ve always been welcomed with open arms and treated like family. As long as you respect their rules and customs, I’m sure you will be too.
There are so many yoga studios around Ubud if you are into that. I found myself going back to the two main ones, Yoga Barn and Radiantly Alive but also really enjoyed Yoga House which was in the middle of some rice field that made it a lovely practice.
Bebek Tepi Sawah
The cost of hotels in Ubud are quite affordable and with sites like Traveloka, finding the right hotel is quite easy. One hotel I keep hearing about and have wanted to check out is called Bebek Tepi Sawah. You can check them out if you click here. Hopefully we get to check it out in person the next time we are in Ubud!
No matter how much I travel around Asia, I alway find myself coming back to Bali and Ubud in specific. I love that town and everything it offers. The healthy lifestyle. The amazing resort and pools. The great food. And getting away from the daily routines and stress. It’s somewhere I will continue to head back to over and over.
